Our friendly club is based in the small rural town of Bourne in South Lincolnshire in the beautiful setting of the Abbey Lawns which plays host to other outdoor facilities including Football, Cricket, Tennis and Bowls. We have members of all ages and abilities who get together to play the French sport of Pétanque in a fun and social atmosphere.
Most of our members play socially for fun, but there are others who play at regional and national events. We encourage all club members to take up the challenge to play in competitions. The club started in 1986 and currently has over 30 members including people from Bourne and the surrounding villages as well as from Deeping, Oakham, Sleaford, Spalding and Surfleet. We play twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays at 2.00pm with a refreshments break in the middle of the session. The club plays throughout the year. We have even been known to play when there has been snow on the ground. During winter, sessions start at the slightly earlier time of 1.30pm due to the lack of daylight in these months. If you want to try this great sport don't be shy! Come and join us and we will show you the ropes. Arrive 15 mins before the start of the session to introduce yourself to us, and we will sort you out with some equipment and give you a quick tutorial. You are allowed to try the sport three times before deciding if you want to join the club. Club membership is just £20 a year, and you can play as often as you like. |
